The Stage Design Process of ‘Festival de Viña’
The Festival de Viña del Mar, commonly known as Festival de Viña, is an iconic event in Latin America, held annually in Viña del Mar, Chile. This prestigious festival has become a cornerstone for Latin music, attracting top artists from around the world and offering a vibrant celebration of culture, music, and the unique spirit of Latin America. Over the years, it has grown into a must-attend event that captivates audiences with its electrifying performances and festive atmosphere.
In 2018, Bizarro Live Entertainment entrusted us with the stage and show design for this esteemed festival, a project led by Chilean TV station Canal 13. Our Director Bart Straver, with his extensive history of producing shows in Chile, saw this as a remarkable opportunity to craft a set that could evolve over time while staying true to Chile’s roots and symbology. Our aim was to design a stage that honored the festival’s legacy and culture, providing a foundation for future growth and innovation.
Our head of design, Pieter Truijen, played a crucial role in shaping the vision for the Festival de Viña stage. Pieter drew inspiration from the majestic condor, a powerful symbol not only for Chile but for the entire Andes mountain range. The condor’s wings became the central element of the stage design, embodying both tradition and modernity. This design direction immediately resonated with us and our clients, allowing us to create a stage that was both futuristic and deeply connected to its cultural roots.
The transformation of Pieter’s sketches into a stunning stage was made possible through the collaborative efforts of our team and our partners. Nitro Led provided custom decorative trusses and other essential elements, which were crucial to bringing our vision to life. Their craftsmanship and dedication ensured the project’s success. Additionally, visual artist Luis Barrera infused the stage with dynamic content, creating a vibrant backdrop that enhanced performances by artists like Marc Anthony and Chico Trujillo. Without these contributions, the stage wouldn’t have reached the level of impact and beauty it did.
As Festival de Viña moves into a new era, we are more than ready to deliver designs that can evolve over the years. Our commitment to creating immersive and culturally significant experiences remains strong. We invite anyone interested in elevating their event with exceptional stage and show design to reach out to us. Together, we can craft moments that resonate with audiences and celebrate the essence of your event.
