LOST LANDS 2025

Designing the Grand Finale

Some projects evolve.
Others become part of your creative DNA.

Since 2023360 Show Design has been proud to be part of the Lost Lands creative universe, working closely with Excision and his team to elevate the ceremonial moments of the festival. Moments that don’t just open or close a show — but define how it is remembered.

Our role was clear from the start: help transform Lost Lands’ key ceremonies into fully orchestrated experiences. Not just spectacles, but emotional journeys.

Building the Rituals of the Festival

For Lost Lands 2025, we were responsible for three defining moments:

  • Friday Eve Excision Intro [2hr set] — setting the tone for the entire weekend, the gateway into his headlining set
  • Excision’s outro sequence — the cherry on top, with Encore.
  • Sunday Eve Closing Ceremony — the Grand Finale, the final chapter of the festival

The Sunday closing became the heart of the project: a 12-minute epic bass-driven journey, designed as the final chapter of the Lost Lands journey. A rollercoaster of tension and release, built with pyrotechnics, drones, visuals, lighting and lasers, all moving as one.

A Vision Interrupted — and Reimagined

Originally conceived for 2024, the closing ceremony was unfortunately canceled due to extreme drought conditions. But the story didn’t end there.

Instead of shelving the concept, we chose to reimagine it for 2025 — refining the narrative, expanding the scale and pushing the experience even further. What began as a setback became an opportunity to elevate the show beyond its original scope.

Extending the Stage Into the Sky

The defining creative leap came with the introduction of 1,000 drones.

For the first time, the stage didn’t stop at the physical structure. Through carefully designed drone formations and transitions, the architecture of the show expanded into the sky itself. The drones became a storytelling layer — shaping symbols, emotions and transitions above the audience, seamlessly connected to the stage below.

For us as creatives, drones introduce a unique, almost mystical quality. They allow stories to breathe, to hover, to transform in ways no other medium can. Combined with animation and pacing, they turned the sky into a narrative canvas.

Impact Through Contrast

Where drones created atmosphere and wonder, pyrotechnics delivered impact.
Blinding brightness. Raw intensity. Physical presence.

The contrast between these elements — subtle, floating moments followed by explosive peaks — became the emotional engine of the show. It was this interplay that made the journey resonate: moments of awe, followed by moments that hit you in the chest.

Collaboration at Its Best

This project was brought to life through close collaboration between our grand finale team from the Netherlands and Excision’s own creative and operator teams. From early concept development to final execution, it was a shared effort built on trust, precision and a mutual drive to push boundaries.

The response exceeded everything we hoped for.

The show went viral, reaching audiences far beyond the festival grounds and cementing Lost Lands 2025 as a landmark moment.
And sometimes, it’s the unexpected details that stay with you the longest. For us, one of those moments was “Ratatatata” by Gladde Paling — pure chaos, pure joy, perfectly placed in the journey.

Lost Lands 2025one for the books.
