Honoring 30 Years of Dance Music Culture
Mysteryland 2023 marked a significant milestone, celebrating the 30th anniversary of one of the most influential dance music festivals in the Netherlands and the world. This iconic event, rooted in the origins of dance music culture, has always pushed boundaries and set standards. For this special edition, 360 Show Design was entrusted with the creative and design duties for Saturday’s Grand Finale and Sunday’s Closing Ceremony. In keeping with the celebratory spirit, the traditional Mysteryland credo was updated to: “Honor the past … Celebrate the present … And embrace the future.”
Our client, ID&T, wanted this edition to be a true homage to the festival’s storied history while also reflecting the current trends in music. The show began with “Age Of Love,” one of the first iconic tracks from Mysteryland’s early days. The remix by Charlotte de Witte & Enrico Sangiuliano, which was trending during the production phase, provided the perfect opener. To enhance the show’s impact, our producers Bart & Jelle composed a custom orchestral intro and edited the first drop, making it seamlessly fit for the grand stage.
One of the standout moments was our encore performance featuring a unique rendition of Rozalla’s 90s hit, “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good).” This track encapsulated the essence of the festival’s history and the unifying spirit of dance music. The audience’s reaction was a testament to the enduring power of this timeless message. It was a heartfelt moment, designed to leave a lasting impression and remind everyone of the freedom and joy that dance music brings.
From September 2022 to August 2023, we collaborated closely with ID&T and its suppliers to bring this project to life. The dedication and talent of everyone involved were crucial in creating the magic that Mysteryland is known for. A special thanks to all the creators, designers, producers, and artists who contributed to this unforgettable experience. Working together, we turned ideas into reality, culminating in a spectacular celebration of 30 years of dance music culture.
ID&T’s in-house Creative Director Sander Vermeulen, along with the talented Richard Cramps and Jake Kooi, crafted an exceptional stage design that served as the center piece of our show experience. The level of detail and craftsmanship was unparalleled, making it a true honor to work with such a dedicated team. The iconic stage not only set the scene but also elevated the entire experience for the audience.
At 360 Show Design, our philosophy is simple yet profound: creating magical moments for beautiful people with an amazing creative team, all while having a great time. This project exemplified that ethos perfectly. We look forward to continuing this journey, bringing more unforgettable moments to life for fans around the world.
